Jeanne Stewart at workStewart’s education and background are in accounting, finance and auditing. She worked for US Bancorp in Portland for 13 years until their son was born in 1981. She has an Associate Degree in Arts and Science with emphasis on Business from Clark College (with honors), and has continuing education credits at both Portland State University and Clark College.

Stewart has lived in Vancouver for more than 40 years. She has been married for 39 years and has an adult son. She and her husband have operated a successful small family business for 28 years as manufacturer’s sales representatives.

Prior to joining the Vancouver City Council, Stewart served in many community service roles since 1981, including a five year appointed term on the Vancouver Planning Commission and served as Vice Chair. She began community service with work in the Carter Park Neighborhood Association, later serving as Chair of that group for two separate terms. She served as an officer and Chair of the Vancouver Neighborhood Alliance, a consolidated group representing the neighborhood associations.

Stewart worked actively as a volunteer in the Vancouver School system, chairing the PTSO at Lincoln Elementary School, as a member of the Vancouver Schools Citizens’ Committee for Good Schools, the Vancouver School District Long Range Strategic Planning Committee, worked as a volunteer to help in the successful passage of the $245 million building bond proposal for Vancouver Schools.

Stewart was active in the local Cub Scout Pack 326, a den leader for five years, and an officer in the troop.
